Abstract

The current research intended to determine how selenium nanoparticles affected the healing process of dog’s distal radial fractures. The experimental investigation included twenty-four clinically normal adult male canines that weighed 25 ± 0.5 kg and were 2 ± 0.5 years old. Two equal groups of experimental animals were randomly selected. All experimental animals underwent surgery under general anesthesia and used a wire saw to create a transverse fracture in the distal portion of the radius bone. The transverse fracture was left untreated in the first group (control group), and then it was reduced and fixed using fiber glass cast tape. In the second group (treated group), selenium nanoparticles were placed onto the line of fracture, and then reduction and fixation were carried out using fiber glass cast tape. At weeks two, four, six, and eight, a histopathological examination was performed to assess the fracture healing, which demonstrated that the treated  group's has superiority by responding well to fracture healing. According to the study's findings, selenium nanoparticles can hasten and improve bone repair in distal radial fractures.
