Abstract

A study of some biological and environment aspects of Carassius auratus in the Greater Zab River was conducted during December (2022) and November (2023). Temperature values ranged between (8.9-28.9) C0, as pH ranged between (7.1-8.2), dissolved oxygen ranged between (7.1-12.6) mg/L, salinity recorded (0.22-0.41) g/L, transparency (16-61) cm and water current speed (23-43) cm/s. (152) samples have been collected, their lengths ranged between (110 – 242) mm and weights 28.4 - 247.6 g. The growth pattern of length-weight relationship showed that it had a positive tendency Allometric with (b) values was 93.145). The total condition factor was (1.621), while in females and males was (1.66, 1.58) respectively. The sex ratio was (1:1.11) favouring females. The highest GSI in males was (2.67) recorded in March, and the lowest was (0.29) in August, while the highest value for females reached (9.32) recorded in May and the lowest was (1.19) in August. The results showed that the waters of Greater Zab River were suitable for Carassius auratus growth and reproduction.
